Lester's Performance is a sign

Watching Jon Lester on Sunday night throwing his first no-hitter of his career makes you feel safe and secure over the future of the Boston Red Sox.  In just two years, two rookie pitchers, Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz, of the Boston Red Sox pitch no-hitters.

The Boston Red Sox have the most diverse pitching staff in baseball, next to the Los Angeles of Anaheim Angels (with a staff of Lackey, Escobar, Weaver, Rodriguez and Garland).  It’s safe to say that the Red Sox will always have a good pitching staff; the history proves that as well.

In the following season of the Red Sox miraculous 2004 World Series run, the Red Sox really wore out their pitching staff.  Curt Schilling was injured, Derek Lowe was acquired by the LA Dodgers and their bullpen was in dire straits however, Matt Clement was acquired and his first half was fantastic until he got hit in the head and was out for a couple of months.  Not to mention Wade Miller was injured as well but the one constant is the knuckleballer Tim Wakefield.

Curt Schilling will most likely retire next season, Tim Wakefield has maybe at most three seasons left but the team will manage with men like Beckett Matzusaka and Lester.
