So I'm not keeping minutes for this game. I should be, considering how much better this game is going than game 1. But, I've a headache, and there's no way I'll enjoy this game if I'm describing every play of it. Maybe. We'll see.
Instead, I'm going to provide casual observations throughout the game beginning with the Second Half.
All things considered, a 7 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter is a nice start to the game. Even better, the C's were +4 rebounding.
RAY ALLEN FOR 3!!! (5th of the night) And it was because Perk actually made a move toward the basket. Even though he lost his dribble as he always does, he drew a double team (almost a triple) and got Ray the ball.
Here's a fun fact drawn from random memory. Sports Science analyzed Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum's wing spans and vertical leaps, and postulated that they could cover 70% of the court between the two of them. (I say postulated because that doesn't account for the presence of defenders , it just assumes those two men have free range across the court...) Sports Science then went on to mention as an after thought that Garnett and Perkins actually covered even more space, though they never gave the number.. They should have analyzed Ray Allen's shot. He just knocked down his 6th 3 of the night.
Ray Allen is having the game of his career. He just sold a charge on Kobe Bryant so hard. Wow. ...And then has it called on him at the other end. Talk about Ref's appeasing the crowd.
RAY ALLEN FOR 3!!!! ... That's probably going to be this blog entry's title.
Perk drives, loses the ball, gets it back, and is bailed out by a Gasol foul. Ha. Perk makes the 1st! Drills the 2nd. Go Perk go.
No Sox game to really mention tonight during commercial interruptus. Sox lost in extra innings earlier today. Still, Lackey wasn't terrible, it was just an ugly game in on and off rain. The Orioles had to win a game sooner or later. Right?...ehhh, after Cameron's miraculous catch in the 9th, I will say the Sox should have won that game. Ah well..
So instead now when I'm flipping channels to avoid commercials, I find myself on the NHL Finals...Not really sure if this is worth mentioning or not. I want Chicago to win this for a variety of reasons, and they're up 3-1. Probably all I'm going to say about hockey tonight.
In other news, Milwaukee is up 3-1 on the Cardinals on ESPN'S Sunday Night Baseball. I like the Brew Crew. I don't like the Cardinals.
Alright, start of the Second Half.
Game Time.
...Not starting out well.
Not starting out well at all. Perk fouls Bynum, Perk's 4th... then Artest steals the ball from Pierce. Pierce Blocks the shot, and is called for a foul. Garbage. Pierce had all ball there. van Gundy agrees. haha.
Perk with a Dunk! About Time Perk!!
...Pierce is not having a good night. Barely front rims another jumper. Good gods.
Time out C's. Time out because that was an embarassing start to the half. It's like Thursday night's team suddenly replaced Sunday night's 1st half team.
Back and forth. Forth and back.
Pierce misses a WIDE open jumper...now 0-5. Get your head in the game Pierce. Defense is good. Just make a shot.
Rondo hits a 3 as the shot clock expires!
and after all that, it's 61-61 with 7 left inthe 3rd
Celtics are going to be in serious foul trouble in the 4th...Garnett just picked up his 4th doing...nothing.
Rondo with a steal off of Bryant...they call a foul on Bryant. Well at least the refs suck equally for both teams.
Pierce finally gets a lay up to go! Nice pass from Sheed to set that up.
Big Block by Big Baby, ....and they of course call him for a foul...That is pure feces.
Nice pass from Rondo and Pierce has to tip in his own lay up. dear lords.
Rondo rebounds Artest's missed 3.
RAY ALLEN FOR 3!!!! Nice work by Big Baby gathering his own rebound and finding Ray.
Fisher for 2.
All tied up 68-68
Time out Lakers. 3:28 left.
Pierce drives, passes to Davis, Davis and 1!!! uh...except him missed the 1....
Gasol goes to the foul line. Pierce didn't foul him. I'm beginning to wonder if I know what a NBA foul is...
Rondo is ridiculous... misses a prayer of a floater, falls down, but stands up in time for the ball to bounce right back to him, a little behind the back fake, and he finds Sheed for 2 off the glass.
Pierce misses a layup underneath the basket...
Some ugly basketball follows.
Gasol just makes silly shots. Lucky Llama.
Pierce is short with another jumper... Rondo picks up a rebound, and misses a 3 at the end of the 3rd.
All things considered...I wish we had a lead going into the 4th. Being tied in the 4th makes this a one quarter game, and the C's are flagging... We'll see if they've saved anything for this new game.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are trying to give the game back to the Cardinals. Maybe I will switch back to the NHL game after all.
Ray starts the quarter off with a nice jumper.
Kobe just picked up his 5th foul. Wowww.
OH MY GOODNESS BIG BABY from a nice firm pass from Garnett
Garnett gets called for Goal tending... KG, this isn't volleyball
Vujacic for 3, Lakers go up 2
Big Baby with the hook. Tie game
Bynum with a statement dunk to respond.
NATE for 3!!
Ball stolen by TA, up ahead to Nate for2!!!
Davis jumps with Vujacic after Davis rebounds a Famar missed 3.
TV timeout.
Brewers got out of the bases loaded jam and lead 3-2. Go Brew Crew Go
Chicago is up 5-2 on the Flyers. Wahoooo.
Vujacic wins the tip. No surprise there. Famar for 3. Tie game 7:54 left...
Artest fouls Nate. Garnett misses a wide open Jumper. Misses Wide at that. haha
Odom for 3?? I wish the Lakers ran that play more often. That never had a chance.
Bynum for 2
Nate hits a free throw...I didn't even see him get fouled. He makes both though. Tie game, 6 minutes...
...Kobe makes a lucky shot and Ray Allen is called for the foul. Phaw.
5-3, Chicago..
Brewers are still up 3-2.
Sox still lost 4-3 in the 11th...They should have swept the O's...
Now I can't avoid commercials. I will take this time to note that lightly salted cashews are a terrible vice.
Kobe makes his 1... 88-85 Lakers
Rondo for 2. Nice passing all around there.
Kobe is deadly.
Rondo waltzes to the basket off Garnett's screen. Nice.
Moving Screen called on Bynum. Excellent.
Ray misses a 3. Tough shot, and after hitting 8, can anyone blame a single air ball?
Garnett rebounds Kobe's miss.
Pierce is fouled. Pierce fouled again by Artest (5th)...
Amazing happens, and Rondo puts in a layup. 3:09 91-90 C's
Garnett gets called for a foul where Gasol actually grabs Garnett's ass in the replay. Wow. Garnett now has 5. Kobe has 5. Artest has 5. The Ref's don't know what to call any more.
And perhaps for the sake of symmetry, the Sunday Night Baseball crew is discussing Jim Joyce's blown call. Some how I dont' think any of the NBA refs are going to admit their mistakes in this game...
Garnett finally puts in a shot over Artest. 93-90 C's with 2:20 left
Fisher blocked by Rondo from behind!!! Pierce knocks the ball back to Rondo, back to Ray, who has his layup blocked by Kobe!!. Celtics inbound.. Ball out... under review... Looks pretty obvious its out on Garnett. ...CELTICS BALL!!!! Wow. I can't understand what camera angle they determined that off of. It was Obviously out on Garnett.
Rondo knocks down a jumper!! 95-90!!!
Kobe misses Rebound Ray? ... Doc with the Time Out!!
CELTICS UP 7 with 1:20 left!!! Way to go Perk!!
Gasol Fouls Perk!! Perk is going to shoot 2. Misses the 1st off an unkindly bounce. Makes the second off a nicer roll. 98-90, 1:00
Artest misses, Kobe with a DEEP 3 knocks it down!
Ray Allen gets a crazy pass and throws a crazier one to Rondo who is fouled? Don't know about that, but he hits the 1st. Misses the 2nd...99-93 C's
Kobe loses the ball after Rondo strips him from behind!
Rondo is fouled, Misses the 1st. I think that guarentees he'll make the 2nd. Swish. Haha. 100-93, Time Out Lakers!! Under a minute to go in the 4th.
Kobe misses a 3, Garnett the rebound, and immediately fouled. Makes the 1st. Makes the 2nd. 102-93, 16.6 left.
Perk misses a free. Makes the second. 103-93, 10.5 left in Game 2.
Pierce fouls Gasol for the hell of it. Gasol misses the 1st. Hahaha. Makes the 2nd.
And... its going to be Celtics ball with 6.4 left.
And that'll do it. The Celtics have taken the game they needed from the Lakers.
Time for 3 games in Boston. That's the only sweep I want this year.
Ray Allen carried the team in the 1st half. Rondo took over the mantle in the 2nd. Now that was a Championship Basketball game.
I still think the Refs are ridiculous. Poor Kobe had 5 fouls as quickly as Ray did in game 1. That's a conspiracy theory in and of itself. But its like the NBA promotes that sort of intrigue.
...3-3 in the top of the 9th for the Brewers Cardinals game. I don't know how the Blackhawks Flyers game ended, but I'll assume Chicago won.
The Sox still lost 4-3, damnit.
Tommy Heinsohn says "They beat the Lakers, they beat the Crowd, and they beat the Refs"... haha. Gotta love Tommy.
One last time tonight, just because I'm sure I missed at least one of these calls...
RAY ALLEN FOR 3!!!!!
