Play Like A Champion Today

As a fan of the Boston Red Sox living in enemy territory it was hard for me to see my boys come down here to Florida and lay an egg like they did.  They had just recently had an 11 game win streak snapped and then started a new one before proceeding to lose 3 out of 4 to the then last place Rays.  Growing up I watched a lot of Notre DameFighting Irish football games as my Dad was a big fan.  I still watch a lot of Fighting Irish football games come to think of it, but I'll eleborate more on that elsewhere.

As most everyone that watches college football knows they have a sign on the way out of their locker room that they slap as they charge out onto that football field.  That sign reads 'Play Like A Champion Today'.  I know for many these may seem like empty words considering the state of Notre Dame football lately, but I feel there is something to that simple phrase.  How can you ever expect to be a champion if you don't go out on that field and play like one.  Right now the Boston Red Sox and for that matter the Boston Celtics are not playing like champions.  They are playing like a bunch of guys who are glad that they are making a lot of money doing something that we all probably did for free growing up.  It would be like me getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for belching the alphabet (if anyone knows of an opening for that let me know, I'm in for that).  Champions don't get beaten the way the Red Sox got beaten this weekend.

Now don't get me wrong.  I have faith.  I am a diehard Sox fan and I believe, nay know, that they are going to pull it off this year and once again reign supreme as the World Series champions, but right now they are not playing that way.  Hopefully in the near future they will turn that around.  Until then and as always. Go Sox!!
