I'm sure you saw what it says on the side of my profile about "walk off home runs" and "bullpen blow outs." I really was hoping that I wouldn't have to write about one of those blow outs anytime soon. So much for that...
A buddy of mine was at the game last night. I remember being pretty jealous before the game started, because I haven't been to a game in a couple of months. But I can honestly say that not only am I glad that I wasn't at Fenway Park last night, I'm glad I wasn't in the city of Boston. This was one of the worst games I've ever watched, and we have the never ending 6th inning to thank for that. It was one run after another run. An error followed by another. The Fenway Faithful even began to boo after a bloop fly ball landed in between Coco Crisp, Dustin Pedroia, and Jed Lowrie. I don't really know if anything could have been done on that play, but I was pretty upset along with the fans who were actually watching this terrible inning.
But at least the worst was over - oh wait, the runner keeps going to second because no one was covering.
Wow.
This sure is something that us Red Sox fans aren't used to. We've lost four out of our last five games. Our pitching, for the most part, has been less than okay. And God knows we need something to help our bullpen. Even last night when we thought Masterson had finally stopped the Angels from doing more damage, Torii Hunter hits a lead off home run in the 9th inning. At that point there weren't many fans left, but I'm sure that didn't stop some of the remaining fans from heading towards the exit gates.
Needless to say, today is a much needed day off. It'll be interesting to see if there are any changes for tomorrow night's game against Oakland.
