DeMarlo Hale - Future Brewers Manager? A recap of last night's game

This was brought up last night during the Red Sox broadcast by Joe Castiglione and Dave O’Brian (680 AM – WRKO).  Castiglione said that this was definitely a possibility, and I can’t say that it’s out of the question.  On Monday night’s pregame show (also on WRKO) Hale spoke to Castiglione, saying that Managing was certainly one of his long time goals that he hopes to achieve.

Well it’s certainly hard for us as fans to pick which third base coach we’d rather have as a manger (and lucky for us, we got Tito so we don’t have to worry).  But if I had to pick, I’d stay away from Dale “The Windmill” Sveum, who sent around any runner that came to third base, regardless of where the ball was.  A few years ago, back when we still had the displeasure of having Sveum as our third base coach, “The Big Show” on WEEI (850 AM) did a bit on Sveum, where he was a crossing guard.  “Hey buddy, you look pretty fast, why don’t you run along there.”  To which the person replied, “Are you serious?” And then after much deliberation, the person ran across the street, but failed to make it to the other side.  That, in my opinion, was a perfect summary of having Sveum as our third base coach.  And now he’s a manager?  I guess things really are different in the Nation League.

Well if you didn’t know already, the Red Sox tied Tampa Bay for the lead in first place with a crushing 13-5 victory last night.  If anyone has thought of a possible one game playoff to decide who will have bragging rights as the Division Leader (because let’s face it – both will make the playoffs), that game WILL be played at Fenway Park – if necessary of course.  I’d rather it didn’t come to that, but if it does, you better believe I’ll be waiting in line for a ticket…I haven’t been to Fenway since Bay’s debut.

Keep the Faith.

Post game notes:

-Super Sox:  6 out of the 9 batters in the Red Sox original staring line up homered last night (the line up changed as runs piled up).  Coco Crisp, Dustin Pedroia, and Jed Lowrie were the lone members of the starting line up that were not so fortunate.  The other six members combined for 10 RBIs – just three short of the number of runs scored for the evening.

-Dice-K:  I feel like everyone neglected to credit him last night, considering what an awesome offense we had.  Dice-K was pulled after the 5th inning, when Tito already knew we had the game in the bag.  Even so, he only gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and seven strikeouts.  He improved his record to 17-2.
