Boston

Pierce held the ball at the top of the 3point line as time ticked down and no one in Boston could sit down! With the clocks ticking it's down to seconds...4..3..2...Pierce passes to Big Baby and with 1 second and the buzzer going off just after the release, nothing but net!!!!!!! Big Baby was the hero in an amazing must win game in a 95-94 final and now they come back to

Well on Saturday night I was in St. Petersburg, Florida to watch the Boston Red Sox take on their kryptonian-nemesis in recent times, the Tampa Bay Rays. I was fortunate enough to have nabbed 2 front row seats along the third baseline off of StubHub.com and it was worth every penny for the up-close and personal experience. I feel compelled to mention StubHub, despite the fact that Robert Kraft despises them, because my girlfriend and I ran into two other Red Sox couples that were complaining about not being able to get better seats whenever they shop through Ticketmaster. StubHub offers season ticket holders the chance to sell their tickets to games they will not be able to attend at a slight increase over face value. I've been able to get front row seats to Red Sox games and the ACC Championship, as well as luxury box seats to a Bruins game.

He signed with Boston, he’s not dead. Reliever Cory Wade was superb from September on allowing four runs on 11 hits and two walks in 21 1/3 innings.

Regardless of how good or bad the pitching is, the Dodgers should win the West based solely on the potency of their lineup and the lack of serious competition from the remaining three teams in the division not named Arizona. After finishing in the top 10 of the Most Valuable Player voting nine times in his 16-year career, Manny is a favorite to finish at the top of that list in ’09.

to my profile.

I started this blog more or less because I'm tired of the way that sports talk in Boston works. There are a few places where rational discussion takes place, such as Sons of Sam Horn, but for the most part, sports talk is relegated to the know nothing variety of Mike Adams, the "see who can yell at the callers the loudest" style of WEEI's "The Big Show", or the eminently un-inclusive style of shows like New England Sports Tonight in which the beat writer talks at the viewer for 5 minutes or so.

Game 7 loss. As much as I hate to say it, the only thing that I can remember about the 2008 Boston Red Sox season is the devastating Game 7 loss to rival Tampa Bay Rays.

Being a 16 year old fan, I have been lucky enough to be a fan while the Red Sox have been dominating the opposition. I have grown accustomed to championships, something any Red Sox fan shouldn't. It seemed inevitable that the Sawx would comeback from another 3-1 deficit just because they are the Red Sox of the new millenium. I mean they did it to a far scarier Cleveland Indians team last year, and shooot and forget about the 2004 Yankees with All-Stars at every position. When watching the 2nd largest comeback in postseason history in Game 5, I truely believed it was done for the Rays. The magic from Fenway seemed to much for the young Rays team. Adding on to my hopes was Josh Beckett's performance in Game 6. With ace Jon Lester pitching Game 7 i was 90% positive it was over, Sox in 7.

First let me tell you a few basic things about me. My name is Matt, I'm 24 years old and I'm from Boston. That's enough for starters! I've lived in this area my whole life, I'm a huge sports nut and a die-hard Red Sox fan!

Everybody has there own opinion about Manny being traded, especially people here in Boston. The bottom line is he is gone, and I for one am happy. Forget about the fact he was a great hitter, a pain in the neck, and that he was basicly dumped and not traded. Lets look at the rest of the season for the sox.

uld just fight your way onto the stage.

Then there's the 37 year-old Doug Mirabelli, The Boston Red Sox back up catcher.  The Sanfrancisco Giants selected him out of Witchital State in 1992.  He was touted as a good catcher with some pop in his bat.  Up until the last 3 years or so, I'd say he sort of fit that description.  He did a good job behind the plate with or without Wakerfield, and he took one out of the yard every now and then.  I'll painfully admit that we do still need him to catch Wake, especially after seeing what happened a couple of years ago when Mirabelli went to the San Diego Padres.

ing an NBA Championship this year still seemed like it would take a minor miracle for the Boston Celtics. Compete?  Obviously. Win 50 plus games?  Highly likely. Win the Eastern Conference?  Very possible.  But knock off a powerful Western team and bring the Title back to

Since the Super Bowl happened a little over a week ago, I haven’t been able to gather the strength or the courage to turn on ESPN. I cannot physically take seeing Eli Manning raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy over his head in victory without projectile vomiting all over my dorm room. I can’t take another interview with (insert any Giant player’s name) telling the same story of how, “No one believed in us but us.” I cannot sit and watch a football analyst tell me that the Patriots perfect season meant nothing without a championship cherry on top of it, that Brady was outplayed by a Manning for the second year in a row, that Bellichik is not the genius we believed. Most of all I cannot hear another pointless overhyped “Spygate” story. No one cares. Stop talking about it.
