OK, let's get started! Last night the Red Sox threw rookie right-hander Micheal Bowden in his first ever start at the major league level. The move to call him up came shorty after the Red Sox placed staff ace Josh Beckett on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to August 18Th. After visiting Dr. James Andrews in Fl, everything seems to be shaping up for a return to the mound 9/5 for the opener of a 3 game set in Texas.

season until Lester was ready to return from cancer. Minor Leaguers Justin Masterson and Michael Bowden are the Red Sox top two pitching prospects not named Buchholz and Lester, however neither has pitched about Double A. Masterson's name was prominently involved in the Johan Santana trade talks and it is generally thought that he will end of in Boston before the season is over, though he most likely projects to the bullpen.
