Danny Ainge

3 November 2009

That Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers actively shopped him this past off-season should speak volumes about management’s doubts and concerns. While supremely talented (I would rank him among the

ppen, but if KG were to return, even if he played for 2 minutes, Boston might just explode!!!  Danny Ainge did make a comment saying this was not true, but you never know.  I wouldn't count on any returns saving us either way.  The Celts just need to play the Defense like they know how and, hopefully, our Offense will come in with energy and that domination that we saw in game 3.

e three would give the Greengang a kick in the rear.

Don't be afraid to shake things up a little, Danny Ainge. It's beginning to look like a necessity...

Call me crazy, but I don't think that Danny Ainge is considering a major roster shake up at this point, and I'm pretty sure that the players, the coaches and the rest of the front office are still committed to winning now in Boston.  Using the same principles that were so successful last year, the Celtics have already set a tone defensively for this year.  They're a group of veteran guys who share the ball and play hard every night.  Sounds like a recipie for success, no?  It is, but forgive me for saying this, the recipie would be much better with a little bit of McSpice.

e reasons that's an issue is Cassell.

I know it's early to be talking about roster decisions, but Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers are going to have their hands full. The team currently has 16 players on its roster, and only 15 will make the cut before opening day. Even then, only 12 guys can dress for any given game. That means four dudes you currently see will no longer be contributing members of the Boston Celtics.

but Sam seems so sure that he's part of the plan, I'm beginning to suspect that he put some LSD in Danny Ainge's drinking water and told him that he'd have the Queen of Hearts decapitate him unless Ainge agreed to bring back Cassell for one more tour of championship bandwagonnery (apologies to basketbawful for jacking his term, but imitation is the highest form of flattery, you know).

Don't blame me for this, it's just that time of year.  Sadly, the Celtics are still in cruise control and I have to do something to fill the void between now and Saturday.  So, for lack of anything better to write about, I suppose I'll put my two bits in about the various award races going on in the NBA.  If I eventually tail off and stop writing mid-sentence, it's because I'm just as bored with the subject as you'll be (actually, if you stick with it longer than I do, I'll be impressed!).  And I suppose it is the popular question du-jour, so let's get down to it.

did everything that Isiah Thomas has been trying to do fir the past three years in New York.  Danny Ainge turned young talent into two All-Star players and turned the NBA's second worst team last year into the class of the league and a dominating force on the court.  Isiah Thomas, on the other hand, drove the Knicks into the ground and compiled a roster with twelve guys who all do the same things and fill the same roles.

The only problem with having 60 wins, is having 60 wins.  The better the record, the more a team becomes a favorite, the more they're expected to win.  And ultimately, constant pressure starts pushing down on them like a fat guy in a kids top bunk bed.  It can be difficult for a team (or a frightened kid below), especially a great one.   I didn't even mention the Patriots.
