I don’t know why, but it occurred to me the other day that clothing really changed sports. In ancient Rome, sports were played in the nude. Seriously. That’s probably why there were no

Just picture it: it’s the top of the ninth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays are holding a slim 2-1 lead over the New York Yankees. Up to bat is Derek Jeter with Bobby Abreu and Alex Rodriguez on deck. Cito Gaston, in order to shut the door on the game and the series gets on the phone and brings in the big gun, Pedro Luis Lazo, winner of two Olympic Gold medals with Cuba and current closer of the Blue Jays. And even if he gives up a run its okay, because leading off the bottom of the ninth for the Jays is Alexei Bell, who hit 30 HR with 100 RBI with Santiago del Cuba last year.

As we look the the Cowboy depth chart it is easy to be impressed and awe struck of the talent they have. The question is will they be able to play together. I remember back to when Dan Snyder try

According to the beauiful Heidi Watney, Youkilis tweaked his shoulder lifting weights.  Francona wanted to give Youkilis the day off so that he can be back in the line up tomorrow.

However,  that's not it. Apparently Lowrie is out of the lineup after he fouled a ball off his foot last Friday night.  It looks like these are bot really small injuries, but with the addition of the Wakefield news, this is all a bit overwhelming to me.  A win today will sure make this stress go away (at least for the time being)

otally honest, after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl last year I said I would not be interested in Football untill the start of the regular season. Well I am happy to say I was wrong. Watching training camp for the past week or so I have gotten so amped for

According to several blogs, including Baseball Digest Daily, Mark Teixeira is headed to the Angels, in exchange for middling 1B Casey Kotchman and minor-league pitcher Stephen Marek, with perhaps others thrown into the mix.

Dinn Trophy Player of the Week is Jacoby Ellsbury (who I nicknamed Little Running Feet). Hopefully no offense is taken in this but he does run like the wind.

The game got off with a bang as the rain started pouring down just as the Celtics emerged on the Duck boat. But as the saying goes “Don’t rain on our Parade” nothing stops Boston from celebrating. As the boat traveled slowly around Fenway, the fans and Celtics were beaming as they were drenched in the downpour. As “We are the Champions” played it gave me a warm feeling to see how happy everyone was at that moment. Rain can’t ruin that. Another priceless moment at Fenway.

Manny's back.  And he proved it last night by planting #499 in the right field bleachers to tie the game in the 6th.  Unfortunately his homer wouldn't help the Red Sox get the win.  Ins

Once again the lords of college football have flipped the bird at fans of the sport, rejecting a proposed four-team playoff to start in the 2010 season.  I suppose fans should take heart that a proposal was even discussed at all--that it even hit the table at all is perhaps the biggest step towards actually determining a true college football champion since the implementation of the BCS system.

den death of his father,  Favre passed for 399 yards and four touchdowns on "Monday Night Football" in a blowout win.  Remember on September 30, 2007 Favre passed Dan Marino in most touchdowns with 421 in his house of horror Metrodome against the Vikings.  This can go on for days.  He has so many accomplishments and has showed so much that it would be wrong to remember him by throwing an interception in his final game.

Since the Super Bowl happened a little over a week ago, I haven’t been able to gather the strength or the courage to turn on ESPN. I cannot physically take seeing Eli Manning raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy over his head in victory without projectile vomiting all over my dorm room. I can’t take another interview with (insert any Giant player’s name) telling the same story of how, “No one believed in us but us.” I cannot sit and watch a football analyst tell me that the Patriots perfect season meant nothing without a championship cherry on top of it, that Brady was outplayed by a Manning for the second year in a row, that Bellichik is not the genius we believed. Most of all I cannot hear another pointless overhyped “Spygate” story. No one cares. Stop talking about it.

If you're using the fact that Spring Training begins less than two weeks from now as a way to get over that catastrophe of a football game last Sunday, I'm with you.

Pitchers and catchers voluntary report date is Valentine's day (awww), and it is a day that will hopefully help to mend the many broken hearts that the Giants walked all over.  No, Johan Santana will not be in the Sox rotation. No, A-rod didn't defect. Thank God.

I have never claimed to be an expert when it comes to predicting outcomes of football games, although last year I nearly predicted the exact final score of the Super Bowl while hitting on seven of my nine prop bets. (My prediction was 26-17, the final was 29-17.) For whatever reason I had a very good feel for that game. This year's Super Bowl, however, remains a mystery to me. Part of the reason I am having trouble getting a good feel for this game is that I am a bitter Jets fan and I can't stand either team. I'm finding it difficult to put my personal feelings aside and look at the game objectively. I think right now I am as close to objectivity as I am going to get, and with that being said, here is my official Super Bowl XLII prediction.

With less than a month to go before the Boston Red Sox open up their spring training schedule with two, split-squad exhibition games at Boston College and Northeastern (Feb. 28th), it's time, perhaps to take a quick gander at what's on the near horizon.

For years we've had to listen to Donny Shula blabbing on about how his "Perfect Team" is the only undefeated team in history and how every year the 72' Fin clan pops open a bottle of the bubbly and gets trashed celebrating the preservation of their undefeated season for one more year...that is...until this year.  Amist the "spygate" problems in New York the new horse has darted to the front of the pack and with 2 additional regular season games the Pats have managed to keep the bubbly corked and kept a few senior citizens sober this season.
