Jeff Bailey

30 June 2009

Keep your fingers crossed.  The only good news of this is that Jeff Bailey will be taking Lowell’s spot on the roster.  I like Bailey.  We might even get to see him hit a dinger or two before he has to go back down, again.  I’m sure he’s thrilled to be back up in Boston.

I’m not gonna lie, I was very disappointed last night.  WHERE WAS HEIDI?!

Okay down to business.  Obviously last night was a great game.  Although it wasn’t so great that Byrd gave up three homers, they all came with no one on base.  In addition, the offense did what it’s been doing best as if to say “Hey Byrd – don’t worry about it! We’ll take care of this.”  With that kind of attitude from the bats as well as Byrd’s criticism (towards himself), our ballclub has a playoff attitude and I couldn’t be more proud.

DH - David Ortiz
2B - Dustin Pedroia
RF - Mark Kotsay
LF - Jason Bay
1B - Jeff Bailey
SS - Alex Cora
C - Kevin Cash

This is one of the most bizarre baseball seasons I can remember in my lifetime. The Red Sox have been hit with a rash of injuries, plucked dudes daily from the waiver wire and received key contributions from about 50 players who were in the minors within a year or so ago, and would still be in the playoffs if they began today. In fact, analyze that Friday lineup a little closer and you'll find: 1) Six of the nine players were not in the Red Sox opening day lineup, and four of them weren't on the opening day roster; 2) A second baseman who looks to be 5-3 and weigh 160 pounds is batting cleanup; 3) Three of the players were not on the team at the All-Star break and one of them wasn't on the team three days ago; 4) Four of the players saw significant time in the minors either this season or last season.

team.  We have Justin Masterson and Chris Smith as new additions to the bullpen.  We have Jeff Bailey as a recent call up, who has helped out Sean Casey and Alex Cora with the utility work.  As for our regulars, the Captain seems to be hitting to usual ways, and Ellsbury is over 40 steals.

s, 15 runs, 4 walks, and 1 homer.  10 batters stuck out, and two were by Papelbon.

-Jeff Bailey:  Bailey got a chance to be in today’s game, after being recalled by Pawtucket last Thursday.  He went 1-3 and with a double, scoring Boston’s third run of the day.

Aw man, how I slightly miss them.)

Right quick, whatup Jeff Bailey! He came in and did something productive, just like I hoped he would. (Check yesterday's blog. He made the good news section.) I enjoy it far too much when a prospect comes up and does what they're supposed to.

ront office are going to have to deal with a lot of angry fans.

Good news! We get another look at Jeff Bailey.

I love prospects. I love getting to see them in the big league. I'm hoping that Bailey, a right handed first baseman who converted from a catcher, comes up and gets stuff done. He's already 29, and according to sources, will be nothing more than a backup on a major league team, and probably not with the Red Sox. Even so, I love getting to see what these guys can do. Maybe he'll get an at bat or two and do something productive. I hope so.
