Lowell

idn't watch much of the Sox game, though I was lucky enough to tune in for the key moments, such as Lowell pinch hitting for Ortiz, and then drawing the walk with the bases loaded for the go-ahead run. Then I was back for Ramon Ramirez remembering how to pitch. Really, this was the best he's looked all season, and on a night when Papelbon, Okijima, and Bard were all unavailable, his performance was nearly as impressive as Buckholz himself going 8 and giving up just 1 run.

It's the Sox turn to bat and this time it's Lowell who gets a double to start the inning. Then Youkilis walks. But just like the 10th, the Sox can't get Lowell home. Varitek grounds back to the pitcher, who throws to 3rd for the force out and both Cora and Ellsbury strike out.

y more than 10 games the Red Sox need to clinch a playoff spot.  My 10 refers to the fact that Lowell, Youk, and JD Drew all hit their 10th home run of the season last night.Lowell's number 10 came after an intentional walk to Manny to load the bases in the 5th.  Then after fouling the first pitch off,

been as ugly as the one Ozzy Osbourne bit in half.  The Sox were down three in the ninth, with Lowell and Varitek on and two outs.  And for some unexplainable reason, Francona let Lugo try to make his already bad day worse.  And he did.  He flew out to center to end the game.  We needed a home run and everyone and their breathing brother knew Lugo had no chance.  It was as likely to happen as Pesky staying up past 9pm.
