Why do the Red Sox tend to forget that? I'm not taking anything away from their performance at Fenway this weekend. They outright and embarrassingly beat the Sox this weekend, but seriously? The Red Sox just seem to suck game in and game out against the Blue Jays all the time for some unknown reason. They're 2-6 against them on the season. Great! Does anyone know what was Josh Beckett's problem yesterday? Doesn't he realize after the outstanding numbers he put up last year that it's strictly against the rules to suck on any ocassion? Who didn't include him in on that memo? Also, Paul Byrd, your performance has caused me to not make any concrete judgments on you. I'll analyze you at a later date.
Now let's take a second to remember which little blogging lady was the one that said we, as Red Sox fans, shouldn't be jumping for joy after the massacre the team laid on the Rangers last series. Oh, that was me! The Sox faced an amazing pitcher in Roy Halladay, and didn't come close to putting up any sort of number that they did against Rangers pitching. Marcum isn't anything special. I would expect the Sox to put up better numbers against him, especially in Fenway. Is it possible to hire a newly retired pitcher to come pitch BP to the team when they're playing someone with a real pitcher instead of the highest ERA in the league stuff they saw against Texas? Roger Clemens, need a job? Come pitch BP. Make sure you take some 'roids before hand. The faster, the better. Thanks sweetheart.
What's even more exciting is that after the bashing the Canadian team put on the Sox this past weekend is that the team is on the road for 9 straight games! YESSSSSS! Because the Red Sox are outrageously good when they're not playing at Fenway. pause..... NOT. (Thank you Borat.) Instead of looking ahead almost miserably to the Rays series down in Tampa, I'm going to hope that the Sox can somehow knock some sense into themselves and put up some serious offensive numbers and some outstanding pitching against the Orioles for the next few days. We've got the team ace (what?) pitching tonight in Jon Lester. Remember when there were times that we didn't want him to pitch because it was very current Clay Buchholz-ish? So glad those days are gone. RELIEVE US FROM THIS MISERY, MR. LESTER! Thank you in advance. Seriously. Unfortunately, the team is facing Jeremy Guthrie who has been ON FIRE as of late. I'm just going to pretend for my own self esteem that he's really bad, and the Sox will have no problem because Jon "The Man" Lester is on the mound.
Let's talk injuries real quick. JD Drew taken out of the game for back tightness? I really really reallyyyy want him to be okay. His bat is something that the Sox cannot afford to lose right now with Lowell out of the lineup and Papi performing below par. Redsox.com has nothing on whether he'll be in the lineup today. Also, there's no timetable on Wakefield's return. The way that Francona is talking, they're hoping by the end of this road trip he should be back up in the bigs. While they're far from setting anything in stone, this is what we've got to go by so far.
In conclusion, I'm ridiculously upset about this past weekend. My Cowboys lost another preseason game, and the Sox get swept/rain delayed at home. UGH. Sorry I didn't do too much analyzing and opinioning (I just made opinion a verb!), but entry was meant for me to vent.
Laterrr!

Seems like I was alone out of anyone on this blog site, or any of my friends, in liking the Paul Byrd acquisition. On Saturday he wasn't great but he wasn't terrible. We'll have to see more starts to see if things will work out with him in the rotation but hey, at least we didn't have to give up any prospects to get him. The Sox spent $7 million to get rid of Manny, so the $2 million they spent to get Byrd isn't too bad. If he ends up sucking they can just drop him down to Pawtucket, right? I'm sure Wakefield will be back before we know it.
And yeah, what happened to Beckett yesterday??? Love the Borat reference.
