A tough series begins with the Miami Heat on Sunday at 3.  The Celtics not only beat the Knicks but we swept them and the Celtics looked great doing it.  The starters played great and the bench did it's job.  Especially Rondo who took it up to the next level, and was so good to see.  But are the Heat even in the same catagorie as the Knicks?  We did have extra rest and maybe shaq will be able to help, that would be sweet.  But what I do know is this is gonna be a tough series so even though they have home court, let's show them who the boss is from the start.  Lets Go Celts!!!!! Same with all teams but all teams dont have the talent the lakers have.. all they need to do is tighen up and take their time and the championship is theirs..

They can out duel the Cavs like they did in the regular season as long as they take their time and not get immature..

I wish they wouldnt argue any calls even if they are bad calls. I've never seen a Ref overtune a call from a player complaining... it slows them down on the defensive end.. all players  do it.. just except the call and playball!

As we can see firing Lane wasn't the problem. The problem with Oakland is Al Davis and his 1960's philosophy. How can you say all the things about Lane and his issues with Russel when they still talk even after being fired. The Raiders have more loses recently then the Detroit Lions what a joke. I thought there was a commitment to excellence and obviously there isn't. They are on pace for 6 straight 11 loss seasons. The players actually played for Lane and easily could have 2 more wins. The talent isn't there yet and Lane should have been given at least 1 more year. As a raiders fan I'm ashamed to say that we have the worst organization in football even worse then the lions. Being from Michigan i never thought i would say there's a owner worse then the Fords. Hey they should even

You may have noticed the small icons at the bottom of your blog posts linking to MySpace, Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon and other social media websites.  These icons allow you to quickly link your blog post to these sites.  You should be using these links a lot.  Submitting to social media sites is free and easy and can really increase the traffic to your blog.  Consistently using them is the easiest way to build a following and increase your traffic.
Using the Facebook and MySpace links:
Assuming you have an account on MySpace or Facebook (it's free to join so if you don't sign up now) click on the icon below your blog post for the site you want to submit to.  It will take you to a submission page where you simply put in a brief description about your blog post.  Then, a link to your blog post will appear on your Facebook or MySpace profile. It's that easy.  If you have a large following on either of these sites it's an easy way to get people to your sports blog.  So make sure you submit links to your best sports blog posts.

Dude, no offense, but Brandon should not get advice from a catcher barely hitting over .200 and especially not a catcher who likes to hang out late at night in Newport Beach at Sharky's with an erratic reliever named Shields.   I was reading Lyle Spencer's piece on the Angels official website and it had an exerpt where Napoli is talking to Brandon about hitting. 

I can't wait for Hank Conger to come thru the ranks.  I don't care how good these g.uys are defensively they need to hit.  I hate to say it but I would rather have the hated AJ Piesinksy than Napoli.  Johnny Bench could hit while playing catcher more than adequately and Scioscia probably averaged .280 for a career.

Unacceptable.  Send Brandon to Mark Texeira or Garret Anderson.  Those two have the consistency and plate discipline to advise Brandon.  Keep Napoli the hell away from Brandon or you can add a third baseman to the catchers club of offensive futility.

We've added some additional functionality to our " Headline Widget" so that our bloggers can now promote their blog posts through the widget.  Simply go the "Headline Widget" page, type in your username in the appropriate blank, and copy the HTML to any webpages (i.e. your MySpace profile page or your personal blog) where you want your blog posts to appear.
 
The " Headline Widget" can be customized to display in any color and it comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. 
 
Important: The widget is geared towards displaying headlines and blog posts for a particular sport or team, so if you want the widget to display all of your blog posts no matter what the subject of the blog post is, be sure to choose "All Sports Headlines" for the first customization option.

A big thanks to everyone who participated in the "Inbound Link Contest".  We have a winner!  A big congratulations go out to Marija.  Thank you for all your hard work on this.  While we had a lot of people participate, Marija was able to win with only 4 links!  So it wouldn't have taken a lot to win this contest!  We'll be having another contest soon so stay tuned.

The whole purpose of this contest was to get our bloggers networking with other webmasters and to start to build up their inbound links which will help their traffic.  Even a few links can help you with the search engines as they will see you as more of an authority on your topic the more inbound links you have.

To try and motivate our bloggers to get inbound links we're going to have a contest to see which blogger can get the most inbound links to their blog. The contest begins now and ends July 31st, 2008. To be entered in to the contest all you have to do is go out and get as many websites to link to your blog as you can and at the end of the month send us an email listing all those links. All links must be active from August 1st through August 7th when we'll be judging the entries - a winner will be announced on August 7th. Building a loyal following on your blog isn't going to be easy.  It's going to take some time.  And while our network of sports sites does get substantial traffic and you will benefit from that traffic, in order to turn your blog into something that makes $100, $200, $1,000 or even $5,000 per month it is going to take a lot of work on your part.  It's not going to be easy.  But hopefully it'll be fun.

As a blogger the most important thing you can do is write quality content.  This builds readership.  Quality content also gets linked to from other sites.  If a person reads your post and they run a blog, they are quite likely to post a link to your blog because they like your blog and think their readers will like it too.

But after writing you will need to be proactive in trying to market your blog.  The single biggest misconception about the internet is the old saying "if you build it they will come."  This is simply not the case.  As a rule you should be spending almost as much time marketing your blog as you do actually writing blog posts.  This comes as a surprise to people, but if you really want to earn money from your blog this is the truth.  Keep in mind that making money from your blog is not mandatory.  If you just want to write about sports and don't care about the money, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  Writing can be fun, educational, and very therapeutic - which is reward enough.  But if you want to try and turn your ability to write into money, read through the rest of this post.
